Components

Components are the building blocks of your brand vocabulary. UI Rules ships the full component set of the library your AI tools build with. Each component carries the rules that tell AI tools how to use it on brand.

What you get#

The component list is that library's standard vocabulary.

Rule groups#

Every component has its own rule groups. A group is a named set of rules that share a theme, such as usage, spacing, or states. Rules carry Guidance (Do, Don't, Caution, or Info) and Importance (Required, Recommended, or Optional), so AI tools know which rules are firm and which are a preference.

Author rules in the composer. Deleted rules move to Trash and you can restore them. AI Enhance tightens the wording for you.

Variants#

A component can have variants, such as the size or style options of a button. Each variant is its own entry with a name, an on/off switch, a lock, and rules, so you can switch on the variants you want AI tools to reach for and switch off the ones you do not.

Switch a component on or off#

Every component and variant carries an on/off switch. When it is on, the component, its rules, and its switched-on variants are part of what connected AI tools receive over MCP. Switch it off and it is held back from delivery while you keep authoring, without deleting anything.

Beside the switch sits a lock. A locked entry cannot be switched, reordered, or moved to Trash until it is unlocked, and the lock says who set it: you, the template, or the system. See Locks. Locks are separate from project-level hiding, which lives on the project as an override. See Overrides.
