Figma Make reads MCP servers as custom connectors. Create one pointing at UI Rules and Figma Make builds with your brand styles, rules, and component vocabulary.

<Callout type="warn">
Custom connectors need a paid Figma plan. The Make file has to belong to a paid team; one marked Free won't offer them. On Organization and Enterprise plans an admin may have to allow them.
</Callout>

You sign in to UI Rules as part of the setup, so there is no key to copy. The **Connect** dialog in the workspace top bar shows the same steps when you pick **Figma Make**.

## Create the connector

<Steps>
<Step>
### Open the connectors

In Figma Make, open **+ → Connectors**. Click **Manage** if it is shown.
</Step>
<Step>
### Start a new connector

Under **Created by you**, click **Create connector**.
</Step>
<Step>
### Name it

Add the name and an optional logo, then click **Next**. The Connect dialog offers the UI Rules logo as a download.

- **Name**: `UI Rules`
</Step>
<Step>
### Point it at the server

Paste the **MCP server URL** and click **Create**. Leave **Advanced settings** empty.

- **MCP server URL**: `https://mcp.uirules.com/mcp`
</Step>
<Step>
### Connect

Click **Connect** on UI Rules, then authorize the project in your browser.
</Step>
<Step>
### Set the tool permissions

Back in Figma, set **All read tools** to **Always run**. Leave **All write tools** on **Ask to run**, because they change your brand's rules and tokens.
</Step>
<Step>
### Check the connection

Ask **"Is UI Rules connected?"** to check.
</Step>
</Steps>

## Troubleshooting
